BWI affiliate in Serbia, SGIGM, reports that 40 workers at Ratko Mitrovic construction company have gone on a hunger strike on 11 April 2012. The company went bankrupt. Workers have not only lost their jobs but also have not been paid for months. Just take one minute to sign BWI's campaign.
SGIGM has warned various state bodies of the city of Kragujevac before the bankruptcy. In vain. A hunger strike represented the only way for workers to make their voices heard. Workers said: "We cannot accept that company owners violate the constitution, the labour law and penal code of the Republic of Serbia."
Against this background, the workers at ‘Ratko Mitrovic’ and the Construction and Building Materials Industry Workers Trade Union of Serbia demand that those held responsible are sanctioned due to the criminal act described in the Article 163 of the Penal Code of the Republic of Serbia and demand that their salaries be paid without delay.
Just take one minute to support the workers’ demands. They definitely need your support and solidarity! ACT NOW and sign our campaign hereunder.

Mr. President,
According to the information received from the Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI) affiliate in Serbia, SGIGM, 40 workers at Ratko Mitrovic construction company have gone on a hunger strike on 11 April 2012. The company went bankrupt. Workers have not only lost their jobs but also have not been paid for months and the state bodies of the city of Kragujevac have never reacted to the union's warnings before the bankrupcy.
I fully support the workers at ‘Ratko Mitrovic’ and the Construction and Building Materials Industry Workers Trade Union of Serbia demands that those held responsible are sanctioned and their salaries are paid.
A hunger strike represented the only way for workers to make their voices heard.
Sincerely,
