The BWI is calling you to support the 230 maintenance workers on the Esso Bass Strait gas facility in Victoria (Australia) who have been on strike for more than 300 days.
The workers are members of the Electrical Trades Union, one of BWI’s affiliate in Australia.
Last year Esso's contractor UGL told the workers that their wages and allowances were being cut by 15- 30 per cent and onto more extreme rosters that would cut their family time. They were told that they would lose their jobs if they didn't accept the cuts.
As well as dodging billions in tax, Esso and UGL are exploiting ugly legal loopholes that undermine workers' fundamental rights. This is not right.
