April 28th: Latin America and the Caribbean stands by the Health and Safety at work

The Building and Wood Workers` International (BWI), through its members in Latin America and the Caribbean, reacted on the International Workers' Memorial Day and the International Day of Health and Safety at Work.


Between April 20th and May 1st, various trade unions affiliated to BWI in Latin America and the Caribbean carried out different kind of activities in their countries in order to promote Health and Safety at Wort and to honor those who have been injured or killed by fatal accidents at workplace.


In total, a 44% of participation in Latin America and the Caribbean was achieved during the April 28th Campaign of 2015. The trade unions that participated in the Campaign this years are:

Andean Area: FENATIMAP- Perú; SITRAFAPESA-Perú; SINTRACESANLO- Perú; SUNTIMAVEN-Venezuela;FETRAMECOL- Colombia; FECOTECMAC-Colombia; SINTRA-SKINCO (COLOMBIT)- Colombia. Southern Cone: UOCRA- Argentina; UECARA: Argentina; SINTRAIGCMA- Paraguay; FETRACEM- Chile and FETRACOMA-Chile. Brazil: FETICOM-SP; FETICOM-SC; FETRACONSPAR; STICC-POA; FETRACOMPA; SINTEPAV-BA and SINTRAICCCM.
