Representatives from the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions (GFBTU) visited a work site of the Bahrain Steel Company on the 29th of August as part of their occupational safety and health campaign targeting migrant workers.

More than 75 workers working for Bahrain Steel Company received water portfolios from the union. The trade union chairman Hussain Abdulla and Mohammad Musaed, assistant secretary for health and safety in GFBTU informed the workers about the great risks of heat stroke and exhaustion due to the high temperatures in the hot months of summer. The workers were advised to wear personal protection to protect themselves.

The union has made a series of visits to other work sites where migrant workers work to bring greater awareness of safety and health and precautions they must undertake during summer.
