Within the framework of the common working alliance between the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and BWI, we announce a new novel training experience for affiliated workers, Board members, union functionaries, trade union officials, youth and women from our unions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Recently, the BWI Regional Representative, Nilton Freitas, announced the realization of a web-based workshop commonly known as Webinar where union representatives can learn about FSC's general topics and the management of forest certification, which is known to be a component of the Global and Regional Strategic Plan and a proven tool for the defense of workers’ rights, their organization and trade union action.
The workshop will take place on Tuesday, July 11th, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. (Lima local time). In his note, addressed to all BWI organizations of the forest and wood sectors, Freitas invites to our members to express their interest and to join this experience by filling out an entry form with their email address, telephone, full name and position in their trade union organization. Those who register must be linked to the trade union organizations of these industry subsectors and briefly explain what they expect from this experience. The forms can be collected by either Marcelina Samaniego (email@example.com); Ernesto Marval (firstname.lastname@example.org); and/or Marina Gurgel (email@example.com).
The FSC's official mission is to "promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests. Individuals or bodies interested in sustainable consumption of wood, paper or other forest FSC certification can apply for a FSC’s certification. FSC certification is also used to demonstrate sustainable management of forests. These principles and values are fully shared by BWI and its affiliated organizations around the world.
