Myanmar: Union launches TikTok campaign vs. violence against women

 

Using a popular video-sharing social networking service, the Building and Wood Workers’ Federation of Myanmar (BWFM) launched a TikTok competition calling on participants to submit videos that creatively narrate the violence and harassment inflicted against women workers. Read more...

In response to the rising incidences of violence against women (VAW) and increasing vulnerabilities of women workers in the middle of a pandemic, BWI, in cooperation with FES, conducted anti-VAW trainings among Indian trade unions and helped plot out their digital campaigns for the 16 Days of Activism against VAW. In an attempt to bring the region’s different women trade union leaders and activists together, BWI-affiliated PROFBUD led the trade unions’ 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence in Ukraine and the first four days of the campaign in Central Asia and Eastern Europe.
