Global Day of Action at Lafarge and Holcim on 28 April 2015

12 April 2016 12:02

The BWI, IndustriAll and EFBWW report a good mobilisation during recent Holcim Annual general meeting in Hallenstadion in Zurich on 13 April 2015. Shareholders were met with a union manifestation outside the meeting hall. The union representatives went to the AGM and made a number of uncomfortable statements and questions to Holcim leadership and shareholders. Some reports are available on our Facebook.

The merger process itself is going on and quite likely the final dot in the decision will be put at the next extraordinary AGMs of both Holcim and Lafarge, at the beginning of May.

However our struggle is not over. In fact, our struggle will continue and we must give workers a voice during the merger and beyond. As earlier agreed on 28 April, International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers let’s send Lafarge and Holcim management our joint clear message: No merger without workers’ health and safety rights! This is also referring to our general motto: No merger without workers’ rights!

Let’s make this day a success for the workers and their demand by organising as many as possible activities. These can include special work site meetings, press conferences, rallies, work stoppages, etc. What’s most important is not how you participate, it’s that you participate and keep your colleagues informed. The more workers and unions that participate, the stronger the message we will send to Lafarge and Holcim management.

As promised a series of campaigning materials are available on the links below:
