The BWI is pleased to announce that the PEFC General Assembly has elected Mr. Mike Rose as a Board Member for the period 2017-2018.
BWI General Secretary Ambet Yuson stated: “We are pleased of the election of Mike Rose who has a wealth of experience in the wood and forest industry and is very knowledgeable about certification standards. In addition, his presence is vital to ensure that PEFC will continue to uphold workers’ rights and international labour standards.”
Mike serves as Chief of Staff to the President of the International Association of
Machinists and Aerospace Workers in the Woodworkers Department. Mike first initiated into the IAM Woodworkers local W-261 in the 80’s while working in the logging department of the International Paper Company in Gardiner, Oregon, USA. For eight years Mike served as Shop Steward and Chief Shop Steward until 1995 when he was then elected Business Representative for Local W-261. Mike currently serves on the Oregon Board of Forestry, the BWI World Board and Board member of the Forest Products Industry National Labor Management Committee.
The BWI congratulates Mike Rose on this achievement and wish him all success in his new role. Prior to Rose, Dieter Koinig-Woehl from the Austria union GBH served on the PEFC International Board until his resignation last year due to a new position he took in his company.
