Passing away of Vicente Carrera former Regional Representative of the IFBWW in Panama

20 July 2017 06:20

The BWI is very shocked and saddened to hear the news from the BWI Regional Office in Panama city informing of the passing away of Vicente Carrera on 18 July 2017 in Panama city. Vicente was the Latin America/Caribbean Regional Representative of the former IFBWW and previously Regional Education Secretary in Panama. Vicente left the organisation in September 2006.

Vicente was a very dedicated and dynamic trade unionist who worked relentlessly for the workers' cause. He enjoyed training members in the Latin American/Caribbean region and sharing his trade union experience and knowledge. He will be remembered for his great sense of solidarity to unions all over the region fighting for repression from governments and companies.

These past months were very difficult for Vicente. Vicente suffered from health problems that reduced his physical strength and abilities. The Regional Office in Panama was regularly informed.

Vicente will be sadly missed as a colleague and friend.

The BWI extends its deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to his wife and children, and to the rest of his family and friends.

You can send condolences to the BWI office in Panama for Elena, his mother, his partner, Maribel, his children and the rest of his family..
