The Federation of Cement and Pre-Mixed Workers of Peru, FETRACEPPE held its 3rd National Congress in Lima, Peru on 16 – 17 March 2018. The Congress allowed the revision of programmatic theses of union organization in the cement sector, as well as renewing and reaffirming its authorities. The congress unanimously re-elected Luis Gilvorio as General Secretary. Part of the current Board of Directors will also accompany him for 2018-2020.
In a context of extreme corruption in public administration and deterioration of workers’ living conditions and their families, participants agreed on the urgency of improving living conditions in this sector of the Peruvian industry. FETRACEPPE received the greetings of fraternal cement organizations from Panama, Honduras, Colombia and Brazil, all grouped in international trade union networks.
In his message, BWI Regional Representative, Nilton Freitas, invited the union to renew its programmatic theses, its authorities and trade union approaches to face governments, employers and society in general, to exercise democracy and to live the participation of the affiliates.
FETRACEPPE brings together nine workers' trade union organizations from various Andean plants and companies. 45 direct delegates with voting power from various provinces actively participated in the event as well as specials guests and friends like Carmen Benitez of ACTRAV-ILO, Manuel Coronado of CGTP (National Centre of Peru Workers) and Fredy Jara of BWI.
FETRACEPPE was affiliated in Durban, South Africa in December 2017.
