The BWI affiliate Histadrut Construction and Allied Industries Workers Union strengthened its international work during its 14th Congress held in Tel Aviv last 24 October. Its various Congress resolutions outlined the innovative union work that it plans to implement and the presence of 33-strong delegation of other BWI affiliates from 16 countries clearly highlighted its commitment to international cooperation and solidarity. A BWI delegation led by General Secretary Ambet Yuson recently conducted a mission to Portugal. He was accompanied by Vincente Sanchez General Secretary of CCOO-FECOMA; Marilia Medes, International Director of UNIA; and Coen van der Veer, Regional Representative of BWI Europe. During his welcoming speech Ambet Yuson called upon the delegates to show their solidarity by co-signing the joint letter of BWI and EFBWW to the Australian Senate to respect international labour law and reject the Ensuring Integrity Bill.
