IG Metall stages warning strikes at STAEDTLER

On 26 April, 250 workers from STAEDTLER's factories in Nuremberg, Neumarkt, and Sugenheim participated in a protest demanding higher wages and better benefits. The workers are calling for an 8 percent salary increase, or at least an additional EUR 250 per month, a significant rise in training allowances, and compensation to offset inflation. The demonstration took place ahead of the first round of collective bargaining negotiations.

Supported by IG Metall branches from Nuremberg, Regensburg, and West Central Franconia, the workers voiced their demands through a spirited protest. At STAEDTLER's Neumarkt facility, over 100 workers engaged in a one-hour warning strike, temporarily halting operations to emphasise their demands for better compensation and working conditions.

The Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI), wherein IG MetalL is an affiliate of,  closely monitors the situation as the second round of negotiations approaches. There is heightened anticipation regarding STAEDTLER management's response to the workers' demands. The outcome of these talks will be closely watched by all parties involved, as it could set a precedent for future labour negotiations within the company.
