The Building and Woodworkers’ International (BWI) submitted to the International Labour Conference more than 300 joint trade union-employer declarations supporting the recognition of occupational health and safety (OHS) as a fundamental right.

Continuing BWI’s Global Alliance on Health and Safety campaign, the Construction Workers’ Union of the Republic of Argentina (UOCRA) signed 11 “health and safety declarations” with the country’s construction companies and employer groups recognising workplace health and safety as a fundamental right of all workers. UOCRA said that the declarations are extremely significant as they cover more than a thousand construction companies in Argentina.
