The BWI wishes to inform you that Coen van der Veer moved back to the BWI as the new Director of the Wood and Forestry programme. Most of you will remember Coen from the Netherlands who was the Global Wood and Forestry Coordinator at the BWI for a two year period from 2012 to 2014. Coen is very experienced in the field as he has worked for FNV Bouw Woerden as executive officer for the wood and furniture industries. Among his numerous tasks, Coen has been a representative of FNV Bouw in FSC international, a member of the Board of FSC Netherlands, as well as the workers’ chair of the EU sectoral social dialogues in wood and furniture.

In 2015 he was elected Secretary Treasurer of the newly merged FNV, a union with one million members covering all sectors in the Netherlands. He was also acting Chair of the ITUC committee on workers' capital. After he was reelected in May 2017, he left his post in April 2019 as he was longing for international responsibilities.
