Last 1 November, Panama became the 21st country and the 9th in Latin America and the Caribbean to ratify the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention No. 190 by officially depositing the instrument of ratification to the ILO. Read more...

Sixteen (16) young women received on 13 October their hard-earned certifications after completing a Shielded Metal Arc Welding National Certification II (SMAW NC II) Training in Pasig City, Philippines. The awarding of the certificates of completion was held at the Pasig City Hall led by the city’s young and progressive Mayor, Vico Sotto.

In a joint session by BWI’s Innovative Unionism Conference and the Women in Trades Conference on 5 October 2022 in Madrid, Spain, women workers and young trade unionists reimagine the future of jobs. The participating trade unionists are delegates to BWI’s 5th World Congress, which is also being held in Spain.

A day before the Building and Woodworkers’ International’s (BWI) 5th World Congress, a jampacked room of more than 200 women trade unionists gathered on 4 October at the Marriot Hotel and Conference Centre in Madrid, Spain and discussed how trade jobs, traditionally the domain of men workers, are viable career options for women too.

31 trade unionists, 25 of whom are women, attended an online workshop hosted by the Southern Africa Construction Network (SACONET) on 22-24 August. Representing 8 unions from 6 countries, the participants analysed in detail the salient provisions of the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Convention No. 190 and Recommendation 206.
