In the spirit of its World Board Resolution adopted on 27 April, BWI joined the Council of Global Unions (CGU) in expressing its commitment to the Burmese trade unions’ call to unseat the military junta’s representative in the International Labour Organisation (ILO), which will be having its annual International Labour Conference (ILC) in June.

BWI condemns without reservation and in the strongest terms the arrest of Burmese trade union leader Mi Mi Aung by the military junta. Mi Mi Aung, who is the finance officer of the Hmawbe Brick Factory Union, an affiliate of the Building and Wood Workers Federation of Myanmar (BWFM), was reportedly arrested at her residence in Hmawbe.Read more...
