Report: Reconstructing Ukraine, Rebuilding people’s lives

Warsaw, Poland - The BWI Conference on Reconstruction in Ukraine, held on April 9-10, 2024, convened stakeholders to address the daunting task of rebuilding Ukraine following Russia’s invasion of the country. Participants engaged in firsthand reflections on the invasion's onset and strategic discussions on the path forward.

Twenty seven (27) building unions from eighteen (18) countries joined tripartite partners from Ukraine, including PROFBUD and the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine, joined global trade union federations like Global Power Trade Unions and financial institutions such as the EBRD and KfW. Private sector representatives from BESIX Group and Constructiv, alongside aid organizations like USAID and GIZ, offered their support.

The conference emphasised the urgency of collaborative efforts in supporting Ukraine's reconstruction. With insights from international organisations like the International Labour Organization (ILO) ILO and solidarity support groups such as the Frederich Ebert Foundation (FES), the event highlighted solidarity and strategic partnerships as crucial elements for Ukraine's recovery.
