BWI to release report on labour rights in Qatar
With 16 months to go before Qatar hosts the 2022 World Cup, BWI will hold a press conference on 15 July to publicly release its 2021 Progress Report on the collective journey of migrant workers, global unions and other actors and stakeholders in their quest for the recognition and fulfillment of human and labour rights in Qatar.
The global union will recognise the great progress in legislation and regulation on the rights of migrant workers in Qatar, and will put forward evidence-based proposals to complete the success of the said reforms.
BWI said that from the "tapestry of actions" to the principled cooperation with the authorities of Qatar and vital proposals to ensure the full implementation and success of hard-won labour reforms, it is setting up a "football legacy of decent work" - way beyond when the world champions have raised the golden World Cup.
