Women workers push for more ILO Convention 190 ratifications
Santos said that three (3) Latin American countries have already ratified the Convention. However, she asserted the more ratifications must be made to ensure a world of work free of gender-based violence.
Economic recovery for our countries, after the pandemic requires women active participation.
The social, economic and labor consequences of the pandemic, together with its lockdowns
require a joint union action to discuss gender-sensitive work plans.
For this reason, the trade union movement and its women leaders must take the initiative to build a better future for all using international tools suitable for this purpose
such as Convention 190 of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
Latin America registers 3 ratifications so far however, our trade unions must promote more ratifications so that societies finally act against gender-based violence in an efficient and sustained manner.
