BWI mourns passing of Indian trade union leader

The Building and Woodworkers’ International (BWI) is saddened to hear the news about the sudden passing of Indian National Building Construction Forest and Woodworkers' Federation (INBCWF) National General Secretary Dr. S.S Prakasam last 30 April 2022 due to cardiac arrest.

Dr. Prakasam was a dynamic and deeply respected leader in the Indian trade union movement. He was the Karnataka State President of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), and a member of the Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. His contributions to the workers’ cause, especially within the INBCWF and the INTUC, are widely recognised both at the state and national levels. 

BWI extends its deepest condolences to Dr. Prakasam’s family, and our fellow trade unionists in  INBCWF and  INTUC. Our hearts go out to all of them at this difficult time.
