Türkiye: Union opposes return-to-work order in quake-hit workplaces

 

After a devastating earthquake hit Türkiye in 6 February, BWI affiliates in Türkiye, particularly Civil Servants’ Union of Agriculture, Forestry, Husbandry and Environment (TARIM ORMAN-IS) President Sükrü Durmuş, have been regularly visiting earthquake-affected areas to monitor the needs of union members and identify the problems of public servants in the forestry sector. Nigeria on 8 November 2022 deposited with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) the instrument of ratification of ILO Convention No. 190 on the Violence and Harassment in the World of Work. It becomes the 22nd country next to Panama to ratify the said convention.

A 140 year old bridge over the Machchhu river in the Gujarat State of India collapsed on 30 October killing 140 people and injuring more than a 100. The bridge, popularly known as the Morbi bridge, is a pedestrian suspension bridge which was closed for repairs in March 2022.
