ASD Laminate continues to bust union in Turkey

 

Around 180 members of the BWI-affiliated Turkish Wood and Paper Industry Workers’ Union (AGAC-IS) were illegally dismissed by ASD Laminat as part of the company’s retaliatory move after the union won a recent court decision affirming its right to organise and collectively bargain. Read more...

The Branch Trade Union of Forestry and Woodworking Workers of Serbia and the United Trade Union Organization of Vojvodinaforest, Petrovaradin on 21 September won a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) covering 1,450 workers employed in “Vojvodinašume” (Vojvodinaforest), a public company which holds an FSC FM/COC certificate.

The precarious working condition of Turkey’s forest workers and rangers took center stage after more than 200 forest fires burnt 1,600 square kilometres of the country’s forests, including villages in its Mediterranean region.
