Newsletter: The Utøya Global Young Workers’ Forum
Last April, the BWI Global Young Workers’ Forum assembled at the historic Utøya, which served as a crucial platform for young workers to discuss democratic resilience and the future of labour rights.
The Forum was conducted in accordance with the youth action call for “Fists Up for Democracy,” and we are pleased to launch the Forum’s newsletter to celebrate the success of this prominent event, bringing together 32 young unionists from 24 unions across 5 continents.
Utøya reinforced that young workers and trade unions must stand together to defend democracy and resist the rise of the far right. It highlighted the importance of organising, solidarity and youth leadership to counter division, hate and attacks on workers’ rights. The Forum also turned these messages into action, with young trade unionists developing concrete strategies and a strong youth agenda for the future of the BWI.
We encourage all affiliates to read the full coverage of the event (available in English and Spanish).
