The Building and Wood Workers’ International, BWI (hereinafter referred to as “we”), pays close attention to protecting their website visitors' personal data and is therefore committed to maintaining the privacy of collected data. This Privacy Policy describes the type of personal data we collect and how we process such data. It is effective as of September 12, 2024, and supersedes any previous documents.

What personal data we collect

  • We may collect information about your visits to our website, including but not limited to traffic data, location data, the content of surveys and contact forms, and other communication and resource data to which you have access. For example, this information will facilitate your future visits to the website in that it allows us to suggest content or services based on the location from which you access the website.

BWI is a global union federation registered with the Commercial Registry of Geneva (Registre du commerce), with offices worldwide. BWI mission is to defend and advance workers’ rights all over the world.

Sharing data with third parties

To provide the website and the content and services available on it, it may sometimes be necessary to disclose your personal data to third parties.

To suppliers, service providers and agents: we may occasionally hire or mandate other companies or individuals to provide content and perform services on our behalf. This includes, for example, hosting the content of the website and providing certain elements featured on it. In any case, third parties will never use your data for purposes other than the ones for which they have been mandated.

How long we retain your data

Any personal data that we process is kept for no longer than is necessary to achieve the purpose specified for its processing. The contact data you provide will generally be retained for as long as there is a relationship with you. If we have a contract with you, we shall apply the legal retention periods applicable to this type of contract.

As a global union federation based in Switzerland, BWI is subject to the Federal Law on the New Data Protection Act (nLPD) of September 1, 2023, as well as to the Data Protection Ordinance of August 31, 2022.  BWI complies with the General Data Protection Regulation applicable in the European Union (GDPR).
