Serbia: New collective agreement strengthens workers’ heat stress protection
A new Special (Branch) Collective Agreement for the Construction and Building Materials Industry of Serbia introduces a binding commitment for employers to implement occupational safety and health measures when work is carried out in extremely high or low temperatures.
The agreement was signed on 7 August 2026 by Saša Torlaković, President of the Trade Union of Construction and Building Materials Industry Workers of Serbia, and Veselin Ražnatović, President of the Construction and Housing Industry Sector of the Employers’ Association of Serbia.
The new provisions represent an important step towards protecting construction workers from heat stress and other temperature-related occupational risks.
The signing took place at “Elektroizgradnja” in Bajina Bašta during an event marking 8 August, Serbia’s Construction Workers’ Day. Trade union and employer representatives celebrated the occasion by presenting awards and visiting the company’s production facilities.
