The BWI European Youth Committee met on 8 September to chart the next steps for young workers across Europe, with democracy, solidarity and equality at the heart of its agenda. The Committee reviewed key resolutions and action points in the draft Strategic Plan and mapped out priorities for young workers ahead of BWI’s upcoming 6th World Congress.

Members and observers from Sweden, Belgium, Iceland, Italy, Ukraine and the United Kingdom shared updates and experiences from their respective countries. The Committee also discussed its future structure and priorities for 2027 and 2028, including preparations for the World Congress. Particular attention was given to resolutions and amendments concerning youth, women and the future of work in the Strategic Plan.

To strengthen youth participation during Congress week in São Paulo, the Committee agreed to hold morning coordination meetings to support and organise youth activities. It also set up global solidarity calls where young workers can share their stories and experiences, particularly those affected by war and conflict and those whose voices are often marginalised.

European Youth Committee Chair Jesper Ekström stressed the importance of the monthly youth calls in sustaining and energising the European youth agenda, thanking members for their active participation throughout the year. BWI Regional Representative for Europe Geneviève Kalina congratulated the region’s young members for four years of work marked by rich experiences, activities and exchanges. She also looked forward to expanding the BWI youth network and launching a European learning tour in the next Congress period.
